The Maritime Forum, University of Lagos is a student society established in 2015 by a committee of seven (7) law students who observed the dearth of interest in the Maritime Industry and felt the urgency to create awareness about the importance of the industry to economic development in Nigeria. The committee headed by Mr. Balogun Adedeji, the coordinator and founding father of the society. The society has since its establishment carried out various enlightenment and educational programmes and activities within and outside the University environment.
To engage students who aspire to develop a career in the Maritime Industry, which is achieved through organising seminars, skill acquisition and empowerment programmes, internships and scholarship, technical training and other activities.

TAIWO AFOLABI ANNUAL MARITIME CONFERENCE.
The Forum, has successfully organized the first, second and third editions of the TaiwoAfolabi Annual Maritime Conference and Blueprint Competition, theConference is a National Conference organised annually by the Maritime Forum in partnership with the SIFAX Group. The aim of the conference is to promote the knowledge of the Maritime Industry as viable tool for economic development among undergraduates in Nigeria and Sub-Saharan Africa in recognition of Dr. TaiwoAfolabi, The Grand Patron of the Maritime Forum, enormous contribution to the Maritime Industry in Africa. The Conference has had in attendance distinguished personalities in the industry in attendance for the conference such as Barrister Hassan Bello, the CEO of the Nigerian Shipper’s Council, Princess Vick- Haastrup, the Vice- President ENL Consortium, Major Henry Ajetumobirtd, Mrs. Bala Usman Hadiza, the managing Director, Nigeria Ports Authority, Dr Amy Jayesimi, the Managing Director LADOL, Mrs. Jean Anishere among many other experienced personalities in the industry.
